Immerse yourself in the world of contemporary dance!
Dancers Myrthe Marchal and Alkis Barbas, members of the Dutch company The100Hands, invite you to an intensive and inspiring weekend workshop.
In this workshop, Myrthe and Alkis will give you an insight into their very personal styles of movement and show you how these can be combined to create a shared contemporary dance language. The course is aimed at young people with varying levels of experience – curiosity and a joy of movement are all you need. You can expect a high degree of physicality, creativity, and expression. You will learn how to communicate through dance without words, strengthen your improvisational skills, and experiment with solo, duo, and group exercises. This will give you an impression of what it feels like to be part of the universe of The100Hands.

Together, you will work on different skills and choreographic structures which will be presented in a short showing on Sunday – you are welcome to invite your parents and friends.

No previous dance experience is required to take part.
Participation in our dance workshops is free of charge but only with a binding participation on both days. Please send us a mail until  January 20th to: workshop@purple-tanzfestival.de

Saturday 11:00 – 16:00 h
Sunday 11:00–16:30 h

We offer a lunch buffet for all participants, for which we ask for a contribution of 10 € – please bring cash.

Myrthe graduated from the Fontys School for Fine and Performing Arts. During her studies, she became interested in martial arts and started exploring how it works together with dance. Through this, she developed her own techniques and movement style, which she now uses as a contemporary dancer. Myrthe loves working together with other dancers and creating performances that tell stories through movement. She effortlessly combines strong and powerful dancing with ‘listening’ to her dance partners and the audience during interaction. For her, teamwork and real connections with people are the most important parts of dancingBesides dancing, Myrthe also runs her own company called FitbodyworkShe supports people in getting stronger and healthier through exercise and good food. She believes that taking care of your body helps you feel good, move better, and enjoy life more — both on stage and every day

Alkis is a Greek artist coming from a mixed background in dance and theater. He has finished a Bachelor program of dance and choreography at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem and since then is based in the Netherlands. He is inspired by playful narration, perception and representation, and “what the body has to say”. These themes he explores within his own work and through collaborations across disciplines as well as by leading workshops. Next to dancing, Alkis is growing as a facilitator of the Work that Reconnects, weaving tools and experiences of both worlds for mutual benefit.
