Since 2017, our aim with our festival has been to inspire children and young people for dance and awaken their curiosity for contemporary performances. The name PURPLE symbolises our ambition to appeal to everyone. Purple combines the colours blue and red, makes no distinction between boys and girls and stands for diversity and inclusion.
PURPLE is for everyone!
For our audience, engaging with dance encourages emotional and spatial perception and requires abstract thinking skills. Every year, we put together an inspiring stage programme with different aesthetic approaches and themes from the international contemporary dance scene.
We not only want to sharpen the viewing habits of our young audience, but also encourage them to participate, empathise and think further. In addition to our stage programme, we offer a comprehensive complementary programme. A special mediation format is offered for each play, and there are several free dance workshops for children and young people at the weekend.
We also give teachers and educators the chance to gain a basic knowledge of contemporary dance. A free workshop is designed to motivate them to integrate dance into everyday school life even after their visit to the festival.
The Uferstudios have been our festival centre since the beginning. We cooperate with numerous Berlin cultural institutions such as HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Theater an der Parkaue, Theater Strahl, TANZKOMPLIZEN, Theater o.N. and the jugendtheaterwerkstatt Spandau to introduce young people to the art of dance on various stages throughout the city.
We are part of the "Offensive Tanz für junges Publikum" project and want to make dance for young audiences more visible in Berlin. We are also expanding our international network in the field of dance in order to create synergies for this young sector.
Experience the diversity of dance with us and let PURPLE inspire you!
