A barred box stands in the middle of the stage, resembling a play pen for adults. The audience is seated all around it. One after the other, four performers start to dance with the box: One tries persistently to get into the box. Another tries to occupy the entire space alone and the next tries to get rid of all the boundaries. While they are negotiating with each other over who is allowed in the box and who isn’t, the audience is invited to participate in the action. Taking place both inside and “outside” the box, it inevitably raises the question: (How) shall I try and get in the box or would I prefer to just watch?
“Out of the box” is a witty, physical and acrobatic performance for audience members of all ages who are interested in the issue of “limitations”.
