What happens if we simply forget what we’re supposed to do and what we’re expected to achieve? With ‘GUGUS!’, Rebecca Weingartner invites us to enjoy a playful escape from everyday life. Following ‘EQUALITY!’ and ‘SOLIDARITY!’, which have already been performed at PURPLE, she completes her trilogy for young audiences – inspired by Dadaism, an art movement brimming with nonsense and a love of the absurd.
Circus artists Demian Bucci and Guilhèm Charrier whirl through a world of acrobatics, dance, music and onomatopoeia. They defy gravity, transform into whimsical creatures and leave the pressure to perform and the drive for self-improvement behind them.
‘Gugus’ means ‘hello’ and ‘nonsense’ in Swiss German. That’s exactly what it’s all about: letting go, marvelling, laughing and simply having a bit of fun!
