Witch Hunting

Witch Hunting brings six dancers from different dance styles—krumping, hip-hop, and African urban and traditional dances—to the stage to explore the concepts of cultural identity and universalist principles. In a system where the dynamics of scapegoating play cyclically to the advantage or disadvantage of each individual, Witch Hunting invites the audience to question the notion of the common good and the concept of the nation. Witch Hunting explores humanity’s pursuit of power and its capacity for empathy.  With krumping, popping, and African urban and traditional dances, the dance builds a bridge between tradition and modernity and pays tribute to the African and American components that the bodies have inherited. The individuals find fragments of a common vocabulary and come together physically, alternating between confrontation, complementarity, and harmony.
