A veritable danced gospel, krump is an urban dance with a claim and an outlet: an exercise in energy control, a return to oneself to embody a character, between letting go, control and isolation of movement, from impulse to impact. A highly codified dance, the krump movement calls for speaking out within a circle and experimenting with different states of the body. Every movement is inhabited. Thanks to the basics, we look for the energy in our center, the strength in the ground – stomp – before projecting our gaze to intercept that of the other – chest pop – and tell him what the sharpened body and hands – arm swing – come to specify, as in a skilful and incisive orator. Krump is the expression of a constantly evolving interiority, crossed at the same moment by a wide variety of feelings, often opposed, sometimes monstrous, human.
The workshop is aimed at young people aged 14–20.
Sunday from 11:00–16:00 h.
Previous knowledge is not required, but a lot of fun and desire to dance!
Participation is free of charge and only with prior registration by January 20th under: workshop@purple-tanzfestival.de
We offer a lunch buffet for all participants, for which we ask for a contribution of 5 € – please bring cash.
Nach is a choreographer and researcher from the krump movement. She discovered this transcendent, dazzling dance through David LaChapelle’s documentary film Rize. Since then, she has been studying the aesthetics of eloquence and the movement that liberates memories.
For her, it’s a question of seizing her identity, her body, making it epic, embodying the multiplicity of a chosen identity.
Nach founded the Nach Van Van Dance Company in 2017. Since then, she has created the solos Beloved Shadows, Cellule, Nulle part est un endroit, Un endroit partout, the group piece Elles disent, and the video-installation Scène pour récit nu.
She is resident at Villa Kujoyama in 2018, Villa Albertine in 2024, associate artist at Maison de la danse de Lyon and Agora – scène nationale d’Evry Courcouronnes, and supported by the Institut Français for her international tours.”
