“Nowhere is a Place” pays tribute to krumping, a dance style that originated in the Afro-American community of south-central Los Angeles. Known by the backronym for Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise, it involves artful face paintings as well as freestyle dance movements and is usually performed in groups, as a battle.

Spurred on by her communicative delight in experimentation with various performative forms, bringing together dance and lecture, archival images and anthropological research into all aspects of the Krump community, Nach has created a danced lecture, interweaving the many and various threads of her artistic practice as a dancer and choreographer. It tells of her encounter with the highly encoded world of Krump, its battles, its freestyle sessions in the streets and its powerful energies.
